Next month will be our last meeting for the season. Our meeting topic will be all aspects of Publishing

Brian Willis, brought to us by Doyle McKim started with introductions using strong visual images of our selves.

He presented information relating writing to Lies and Truths–lies we tell ourselves, lies we tell each other, lies we live by

He suggested we–

Mix it up–Try different things

Baseball  is a metaphor for writing(or other sports or church) is like theater(art).

Allow ourselves to be sloppy, write freely

You can’t please everyone

Read each character’s lines together–without other character’s dialog

Consider which actor might play your character

Join Artist’s Trust–get a grant

Make deadlines for yourself

What do you really want to do?

The only thing that’s truly shocking is talent.

Write a monologue for each character

We played a character game adding characteristics in a circle. If you don’t believe something about a character you say “I don’t see it” then you get a chance to keep building the character

Play with What if…
