On January 20, 2012, the Lewis County Writers Guild will host “A Midwinter’s Story Warming.” Gather your lap blankets and your best poetry and prose to share with the Guild as we celebrate the long winter evening like the ancients did: with the sharing of stories.
Social hour begins at 5:00pm at the Matrix Coffeehouse at 434 NW Prindle Street in Chehalis. Readings of original works, and/or works of our favorite authors, begin at 6:00pm and continue until everyone has had their fill of warm drinks and winsome words. There will be no concert at the Matrix that night, so the meeting may run as late as 10:00pm for anyone willing to stay and read. Newcomers may always attend their first meeting for free, so invite your friends and family who love to write.
Depending on the number of readers, each person will read for 10-15 minutes. Plan to bring about 3000 words of your own work or from your favorite author to share. Just for fun, copy and paste 3000 words of your own work into the writing analyzer at www.iwl.me. The website will compare your writing style with that of famous authors and tell you which one your writing is similar to.
Guild dues are $20 for a guild year (September through June) or $3 per meeting after the first one. Guild dues help us fund our annual Novel Writing Contest and to obtain guest speakers so that we can continue promoting the work of our talented and creative authors.
We look forward to hearing your work on January 20!
